I have shot quite a few handguns over the years and I am always looking for the true do all, if I could only have one sporting pistol.

Hmmm....... what would I have to consider that would make all my other pistols obsolete?

Number 1. It would have to be tough. So that would rule out all of the polymer frame pistols. Don't get me wrong. My Glock and both my XDs are tough pistols. But, I'm looking for a metal frame. Something that can take any abuse. Dropped, shot without cleaning for long periods of time, used as a hammer, set on fire, not that I recommend the later two.

Number 2. It has to be comfortable in my hand for long range sections. Good back-strap and enough meat that it fills the hand good. This would rule out all the sub-compacts and micro pistols. A full size pistol. You know a working mans type of gun.

Number 3. The manufacturer needs to give me a reason to buy it. Not because it is cheap and anyone can afford one or the entire thing is stainless and looks cool. But because my friends and family will be shooting it for the next generation or two. This means it should have all the features that I need to shoot at the range for fun, maybe compete with it even if its just with my buddies for bragging rights. Good trigger, comes with more than just one magazine, and the sight are set-up properly.

I think I have found the perfect one. Yah it sounds like I am going to throw my opinion out there. So here it is. The Sig P226 Blackwater Edition. I have come to like this pistol too much. For all the reasons above and a few more. The P226 has always been an accurate pistol right out of the box. Also, durable. Used by some of the worlds elite forces for years. Easy break down. Kinda easy to shoot.

The Blackwater comes with some neat extras. The grips have a nice full feel with a little extra stuff to fill your hand and force you to point it right where it should be with a thumb on thumb hold. They also go down pat the frame to make a very nice compact mag well. It comes with Tru-glo front sight and Trijicon rear. And count-em four, not one or two,but four magazines. This is like a $180 value for nothing. It has a light/laser rail milled into the frame. A tough armor coating. And to round things out carrying case.

I know the Blackwater guys are not the favorite company in the world right now and going through some changes. So I just look past the logo and take the pistol for what its worth. An excellent product worth taking a good look at.
